Re: The State of Illarion from a crotchety old player. Again

A few years ago I would have been all over this thread, diving headlong into the argument on one side or the other. But I really think this thread is getting a bit too personal on both sides. There are horn-locking ideals being displayed here, but it doesn't really need to be that way. I'd like to s...

Re: The State of Illarion from a crotchety old player. Again

There are no people coming because WE do not want them to. They don't come because we don't promote Illarion in any way right now. We'll start doing so once the game is in a playable state. We'll talk about this topic again then. So are you saying that this game has been in an unplayable sta...

Why did you start playing, what were you looking for? I had spent enough time slogging through various text-based RP chat channels and was looking for a graphical outlet to match my creative interests. I had stories to express and I wanted to hear/co-create stories from/with others. In addition to ...

Re: Being Pk'ed by a GM with no RP ??

I'm honestly not quite sure I understand the negative sentiment toward idling while in-game. Populating the online list really only aids in potentially encouraging more of our players to log in. It certainly shouldn't be used as an excuse to troll the player-base.

Re: #w #me doesn't work anymore?

Sorry for hijacking this post but since it has been resolved and since this is sort of related.. Why doesn't, blah blah blah #me blah blah blah , work? It would be nice to have #me in the middle sometimes, to break up the norm. I don't know how difficult it would be to script an #me in the middle o...

Ahh, nostalgia threads. Let's see... 7 or 8 years ago, when people planted wheat in Troll's Bane right next to their campfires so they could skill their farming and collect ash for glassblowing later on at the same time. This was all the while people were roleplaying, though often the graphical act...

I have a lot of high hopes for when the VBU is finally ready, sure. I am just reminded of the long-term updates of the past that had threads like these and the effect that a lot of hype (brought about by the playerbase itself) had on the community. The inner circle as I referred to it was not specif...

This thread reminds me so much of every single publicized Illarion update I've been around for. It makes me feel strangely fuzzy inside. I think its the feeling that something is going to happen that absolutely no one outside the "inner circle" is going to be happy about. And that, in turn, makes me...

umm.... how is sitting by a fire and talking with people not rping? Of course it is RP. It is just not all there is to RP. Campfire gatherings = Easy Mode. When I see a group of people who have met randomly in town I usually cringe when one of them suggests a campfire (most of the time because it i...

Exactly :D We elfs love to do it complicated ;) Not all of us. @Thread Topic: As for Tol Vanima vs. Vanima, I've always looked at them as a formal/informal contrast as stated by Alli. When speaking with a complete stranger (and sometimes people he doesn't like), Cain makes a direct attempt at not s...

Why not ask a player glassblower ? I'm sure they can help. ...A what? In all seriousness, though, bottles are not too hard to come by. Some players have them as leftovers from potions (although some people throw them away as I have witnessed). Then again, I don't know if these are the same bottles,...

Let it go. One person makes a comment and everyone jumps him like a pack of starving hyenas. Illarion has a disturbing history when it comes to this mob mentality.

Enjoy it while it lasts, I say! :P

My opinion has always been this. Eliminate mages as a class people can choose to create. Keep them in their current form (which allows them to nerf anything in under 5 seconds) and let it be up to the staff to allow certain people to play them. This way, we get a select group of mages who should be...

I hate to turn this guy's thread into an entirely unrelated discussion, but do you really have nothing better to do than speak for the governing staff? You contribute nothing but unnecessary hostility. I am content in my own lack of submission, in case you're thinking of asking.

We have people calling each other out in terms of grammar and slang. In seriousness, and not in jest? And the comment in question is "suck ass" ? My mind is fucking blown. There are far more productive things to do ingame.

A note is pinned below recent formal announcements, the parchment tattered and curled at its ends, as though it had been packed poorly and became damp at one point. It is written in elven, though the letters themselves are far from elegant. Tol Vanima walks a thin line. Threatening to take away its...

With my awesome power, I will summerise this thread for those who can't be bothered reading all of it: "Why are Gms allowed to break the background of the story? The fun-for-everyone ideal is truly one that is the grandest and most sought-after concepts known in the gaming world. However, it is absurdly, impossibly impractical. While I do agree that both sides should make some sort of attempt to make the situation entertaining for both sides, I think there i...

And this is why I play illarion and not another generic game. The point remains however, that there is an engine for a reason, and you cannot fault people for roleplaying within the limits of said engine. ---annoying campaign ad removed--- In fact, we do all the time. It's called "passing judgment"...
