Magic doesn't have to come from the gods. Often it does, but not always. An atheist in Illarion could perhaps believe that the "gods" are made up by mages to scare people? Or something. I do not find that so strange. None of my characters have seen a god.

You claim that Sir Jorokar Sladrir lies. I would like to see proof of that. While those who started the war deserves to be punished, I cannot say that it was unwise of Jorokar to forgive them. That way, peace can be kept, and also, if they would dare to break the law once more, they will be outlaws....
