Yeah, the prices that the NPC buys ham at sucks balls too.

Seriously, my character has to work like an underpaid child laborer in Cambodia just so I can finally buy my beloved, (breakable) two handed sword. Then I have to work some more to buy some armor that won't get me womped in a duel. WTF?

The whole issue isn't what is should or should not be called, I was inquiring whether or not there were more unarmed kinds of fighting skills. The question has been answered, and after the answer, I suggested that the skill would be better called unarmed fighting.

Okay, thanks.

Just as a suggestion, I think the name of the skill should be changed to "unarmed." Wrestling is straight up grappling and would imply that strikes, feints and all sorts of BS aren't encompassed.

Not that it matters. Just being politcally correct. :)

While fighting is pretty low in pay, killing piggies, cooking their meat and selling it is the only business in the game that doesn't require buying equipment beforehand. Always keep that in mind.

Boxing

When my character has no weapons equipped and attacks a pig, it shows a blood splatter from the pig but no fist icon for my character...according to the skill list, this is "wrestling." Is there a way to get my character actually punching the pig so it goes into something like a "boxi...

Not necessarily. A character like that won't be the King of Fighters or anything like that, but with enough training, he can look out for himself.

And if he's properly motivated, he can get some followers of equal strength in order to pWn the world. :)

Lack of fear of dying was and always will be a major problem in Illarion. One of the benefits about playing a guy behind a computer and not "really" doing what you are doing is, you won't be afraid if your man gets stabbed in the abs. And considering everybody wants to play a character tha...

It's better to keep a character that's well rounded in his attributes, than it is to have a guy that's completely (for example) strong but dumb. That way, your character can do a little bit of everything.

How about this? The whole "you're not the governor, push off" idea should be played iin game...as well as the "I am too the governor, douchebag!" side should be played in game. So that way something exciting would happen, there would be factions within Trollsbane, and the charact...

Where Have the Pigs Gone?

Did they hibernate for the season or something? I was trying to get my character some ham, but I can't find the pigs anywhere.

Let's keep the fighting in context of the game. If this thing were to have too much realism, we'd also have to factor in other complicated variables like human biomechanics.

I disagree about the potential spread out.

If more players were "motivated" to move their characters from place to place, chances are everybody would do it. Thus, they would meet often on common travel routes and end up meeting in the same place.

My idea - make places like Varshikar and the Skull Cave more "dynamic" like Trollsbane (i.e, NPCs that buy/sell stuff, maybe more land area, more crafting places).

I like the respawn rate. I remember times when my character would struggle because they (mummies) were sprouting up like weeds. F'in annoying. Now it's reasonable enough to give the newbs a chance.

With the exception of vampires and werewolves, I'm pretty sure you can play whatever you want under the condition that you're not trying to have him/her more powerful than anybody else.

I agree it shouldn't be made a skill. Because then we'll get some of the hardcore Powergamers on this thing becoming experts in pickpocketing, although they play as knights who act like they're neutral and uncaring, but defend the town at every cost.

That's not a bad idea at all. But, I'm opposed to it for the same reason that it gives the victor too much control. Surely it's bad enough that the character got Owned! in the first place, now he has to lose his items and die too?

I'm gonna go in game to check this thing out.

Anybody ever play Doom 3 against some guy, then challenge him to a bare fist brawl, only so he can whip out his rocket launcher when he's dying?

Yeah. I have a feeling Illarion will be a little bit more fun now. 8)

I played a character called Xerake. He was pretty much unmatched in his prime, and this was back in the day when nobody dropped stuff when they died. Some guys ran, some guys stuck around.
