Re: Illarion Open Source Initiative

Can you name me one, just a single, example for a case that you fear?
Maybe I just lack understanding of what we're talking about.

Re: Illarion Open Source Initiative

@Formulas for fighting: Why should they be kept secret? I can understand that riddles etc. might be a problem (however, once solved they leak anyway and those who can read sourcecode are welcomed anyway...), but honestly, I don't think that too many people who can't read/view/... it now will do that...

Ups, damn.
Instead of clicking "reply", I clicked "edit".

Sorry!
Eventually you could somehow sumarize the rest of the posting? I really didn't intend to do that, I tried to restore it but it failed.

Sorry,

I don't know which taxes are set to 91% annually. They are set to 5% monthly andere thus are 1-(0.95)^12, which ist around 50%. Plus, you receive gems for it which are worth much more.

Re: VBU First Impressions

Thanks for the feedback! That's what we want to see :) Of course, many things are still not balanced, but be sure that we'll have a close look on these issues and try to find good solutions, tweaks and rebalancements. Also, you surely haven't discovered all aspects of the VBU, some of them might hel...

Re: Does this game matter anymore

Thanks for providing all the answers I would have given myself! However, I'd like to add some minor thoughts not expressed so far: If you had some of your nicest Illarion-experiences being together with only 2-5 other chars, then think of the low probability for a randomly walking newbie in an empty...

Re: Why don't YOU help to develop the VBU?

Drathe, and I can only surmise you as well, have put in work and have had trouble seeing them get published. That's a problem. Illarion is developed via ad-hocracy and sometimes people have difficulty navigating those waters. That problem coming to light is exactly what this thread is for, I'm gues...

Re: Why don't YOU help to develop the VBU?

I get it now: You are annoyed by the current Illarion and want it to change. HOWEVER, you don't want to work on a changed Illarion, because, well, it is not the current Illarion (which, anyway, should be changed). This seems highly logical to me. You don't know what is exactly done, as you state, as...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

Have you ever wondered why GM's in this game abuse power, and why theres so few players, that the game can barely keep a top 100 run going? I mean come on. Because you can't rape in game, right? You created a whole society to work the game off of, but your best play for new players, instead of real...

Re: Why don't YOU help to develop the VBU?

Actually I contacted a developer and got no answer. Who and when? About restrictions: Basically you are free to do whatever you find reasonable. Traders work on a different base, so that isn't what we actually need. However, any other NPC or content that you think you could provide is welcome. Martin

Re: Why don't YOU help to develop the VBU?

I just get the impression that you are all so focused on mass producing NPC's that you neglect the other areas of the game that really matter. We are all so focussed on anything BESIDES NPCs that in the whole team of people developing the VBU, nobody cares for NPCs (except for 1 or to people who on...

Re: Why don't YOU help to develop the VBU?

It seems apparent too that you have more of a right to decide which direction illarion progresses in. This right, however, is deduced from the fact that I simply DO what I want to be done. What you do will be done. What you WANT to be done, might be done -- or it might not be done. The direction I ...

Re: Why don't YOU help to develop the VBU?

@Nalzaxx: While your posting is rather lengthly and I get it that most of the unmentioned "senior devs" are, in fact, me, I don't quite get your point. You don't like the direction the VBU is taking. This is okay, and you can help anywhere you want and wherever you can, giving it YOUR dire...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

I say we all donate ten dollors :) Keep Illarion running. Unless you all spend enough so that the society can hire a fulltime deveolper, it won't help. Those who work on Illarion are doing it for free; therefore, money won't bring anything. This is also not really true. Fact 1) The developers actua...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

There is no change of rules whatsoever. It is like that and it was like that for a long time. See, if you want to play out such things, why just do it in IRC, ICQ, MSN, jabber, facebook-chat, per e-mail or forum-PM instead? It's not that the Illarion client was the only way to comunicate with peple ...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

If you think that allowing these things will improve the game - fail. Epic fail. Not a fail. Just find another game or code one yourself. This game has some rules which might of course be discussed, but in the end, we decide. Like it: Stay. Don't like it: Deal with it or leave. A rather simple thing.

Queststatus is permanent, it gets written into the database as soon as you set it and stays ther until you change/remove it.

Yes, these were some debugging messages, please ignore them.
Also, the questID might be from somewhere else. I thought I had removed these messages, seems I forgot some.

As for the lags, I don't know. Vilarion should know the answer.

Re: Test your NPCs/Testet eure eigenen NPCs!

This is a rather new bug which I tracked down and which will be removed within the next minutes probably. It was caused by a recent change of servercode, namely there was some typo in the brand new DB interface of the server... therefore, this bug is just 2 or 3 days old. Thanks for finding it! Martin

Re: Test your NPCs/Testet eure eigenen NPCs!

Thanks for pointing out that bug, I found and removed it now. Everything should work as intended now. The state is there to make the NPC "remember" something he spoke to a player. For example, state=0 could mean that you did not pick up a quest yet, state=1 means that you picked it up, but...
