Re: Something on the tree planting again.
I also wanted to make a comment on the topic of the most recent news post. I can certainly understand disabling a game feature because it is easily abusable. However, I do not necessarily agree with removing such a feature entirely because there are players who will abuse the feature within the comm...

Re: Profile Ratings.
So... After much deliberation we are looking at ways to change the profile rating and any ideas and suggestions would be most appreciated. I have a few ideas that could go along with the Like button idea. I do like the "Like or don't vote" options as it keeps things pretty positive. Howev...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
Why is specialization (as far as character abilities) even necessary? What people are asking for is specialization in terms of character productivity. They want people to buy stuff from other people and be able to sell stuff to other people, and they see all-rounder characters as having no need to ...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
so what you're saying is you want to be able to do stuff in 50 hours of grinding that someone else will never be able to do after doing almost 10 times as much grinding? I still don't think you're getting the point David was trying to make... For the last time, that is not what I am trying to say. ...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
You say that it is stupid that a specialist and an all-rounder should be on equal footing with the same skill at the same level. You completely forget that a specialist needs to raise one skill, let's say that takes 50 hours; while an all rounder must raise around 9 or more skills, taking around 45...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
1000 oil lamps free each time you fish ruined that one. It is things like this that totally ruin any possiblity of this game having a reasonable economy. When it is easier to aquire an item through loot drops (including fishing) than it is to make the item, what is the point in even being able to m...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
The solution in this instance is relatively simple, then. Sell your oillamps for around 30 coppers to other players. You make at least a 10 copper profit per lamp. Of course, you likely could buy the copper ingots for a lower price from other players as well. The problem with this, though, is findin...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
I honestly don't like the idea of penalizing people for having their skills too high, especially since putting that into place would basically be a giant "F*** YOU" to all the players who currently play the game in which they are pretty much required to multi-skill if they want to get any...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
Specializing in a skill could be defined as having no other skill belonging to the same "group" (crafting, fighting, magic) with a value greater than 30% of the skill being specialized in. As long as that condition holds true for a character, the character gains the benefits/bonuses due to...

Re: Missing Bag
That's the problem. The code is a little tricky and according to vilarion, every "item movement" is treated seperately. So, moving an item from the inventory to the map is something different than moving an item from a tile of the map to another. And in detail, the server does not move it...

Re: Alleskönner/Allrounders
Obvious methods like "skillcap", "item sell bots" or "guild depots", well, you can be sure the team already considered those. Such things, albeit known from other games, aren't that easy to implement and, that is also quite important, aren't unique. Every game has them...

Re: Missing Bag
...and simply makes the things disappear after 6-8 minutes regardless of type of item or other things. Can you define "simply" here? This is, basically, just what the server does. An item that lies on the ground for 4-6 minutes in a row is deleted. The little problem here is that when you...

Re: VBU: Q+A with the Developers/Fragen&Antworten an Entwick
Will there be more freedom in character creation, such that characters with prior knowledge/skills can be made? This is in addition to a system like the current, where all new characters know nothing and have zero experience doing anything, according to the game engine. How will the skill system be ...

Re: RP conflicts and Guidelines
I think that Lennier definitely had some interesting points, however, I feel that this whole topic is already covered in the rules and RP Guide on the main site. It is mentioned many times that players (not characters) need to work together for their mutual enjoyment, especially when conflict takes ...

Re: RP conflicts and Guidelines
On the original topic: Regarding the editing of the RPG Guide's Evil Guys section, I like HolyKnight's proposal . I also would prefer to replace instances of "evil guys" with "antagonists" like HolyKnight suggested. In my opinion, the players of antagonist characters should be pr...

Re: Skill limit
I am not going to bother responding to the dev vs players thing, as it is pointless. On the original topic: skill gain stuff, I was aware that there are many ways of doing things. I was also aware that the VBU may be changing skill stuff so that skill gain is no longer a problem (for roleplayers). I...

I do not have a lot of experience with this game, or community, so keep that in mind when reading my post. Also, haven't you ever played a DnD game where people only want to PG? The question may not have been directed at me, but I will provide an answer. I have played DnD with those people, and I di...

Thank you both for the great information! :D Now that I know a bit more about lights, I do have some questions. Do the torches get used up after they are lit? In other words, do they go out after an amount of time passes and/or are unusable after being lit once? Likewise, are candles and/or oil used...

Several Questions from a New Player
Okay, I have looked through the information on the main site and the wiki, as well as a bit through the forums, but I am having some trouble figuring out how to do a couple things. I wanted to create an elven ranger-type character who is good with bows, but I can not figure out how to use the bow I ...
