Re: What are you reading?/Was liest du?

Wolf Pack by Robert N Charrette,
Part of the Battletech universe. I started with the earliest books written back in the 80s and 90s. Its a lot of fun reading about mech warfare.

Re: Massive Error upon start up.

That's what I was afraid of. *shrugs*
Oh well. I guess I'll just have to do without until I get that new computer. Then I can rejoin Illarion. mwahahaha!

Massive Error upon start up.

So, I"m getting this message when starting up. No game opening. "A massive error occurred in the client. fixing the errer wasn't possible. The client has to exit now." I tried turning off my firewalls, downloading latest java, and downloading the latest graphics card driver. At that point, I kinda d...

Re: Application closes on log in...

I updated my graphics card and the computer screen when multicolored on me. I did a system restore with no issues, but, is there a way I can update my card without making my computer go berserk?

Re: VBU Q&A Revisited

Is there any out of game version/summary of the big events that led up to the VBU?
I've been getting bits and pieces of the happenings, but have generally been unable to get ig to participate and learn what was going on.

Re: VBU Roll Call

Sweet! Glad to hear of the excitement in all the older members. Hell, if everyone good at RP showed up with the VBU, we might bring this game back up to what it used to be.
C'mon, we need more of the great players!

Re: VBU Q&A Revisited

It hasn't been decided- chill people. They'll keep us up to date as they have it. And with the overhaul on the crafting system, I doubt you'll really be loosing that much in the end. Just wear what you absolutely can't afford to loose and keep in mind it is just a game (that we love).

Re: The Unofficial Gynkeesh - Slang from the South Canton

I can confirm the existence of the term 'io' as an Ancient Latin word that essential means 'rejoice' or 'joyous occasion'. For example, "Io Satunalia". Or, "Joyous Day of Saturn". However, I suspect most modern uses ig of 'yo' are simply the modern slang used as a greeting, and I fully disapprove of...

Re: VBU Q&A Revisited

So, as someone who works with medieval armour and weapons on a regular basis (both fighting and making), I can no longer stifle my curiosity- will the weapons and armour be any different? Will archery actually cause significant damage? Will (chain) mail be a viable armour, rather than just something...

Re: VBU Roll Call

Hey, tell your friends about this, make sure all the older players who have quit or fallen inactive know about all their favorite RPers are going to hop on for the VBU and have some fun!

That voice in my head that whispers RP situations and ideas for DnD and Illarion both when I'm supposed to be listening to the lecture. Thank you, you keep me sane.

Using a Saw

Used to be, when one used a saw with a tree, one could get boughs and branches, leaving the tree still standing (to a point).
I was wondering if there is still a way to do this as I hardly get anything but logs when cutting a tree down.

VBU Roll Call

I was reading Achae's Older Player post and became very nostalgic for the older players that were around my first few years of Illarion. And I keep reading 'I'll be back with the VBU'. I'm excited about this. Like none other, I can't wait for the VBU not because of the cool new features (THANK YOU S...

Re: Emblem/Wappen - Contest!

Drathe, those crests kick ass. You have also restored my hope and faith in humanity. My only suggestions are that on the last shield, extend the colored field to the whole shield and that one doesn't put color on color or metal on metal (black counts as a color rather than metal), so maybe something...

Re: Heraldry and Coats of Arms

Is the second one German? As far as I know, those are the only people who put color on color.
As for that contest, I'd like to do it, but I've no skill with any programs which would allow me to make the devices which you have asked for.

Heraldry and Coats of Arms

I've seen so many attempts at heraldry in this game it occasionally makes me facepalm. Forcibly. So, here's a file free for all which will help all of you figure out how to make, if not completely accurate and historical, will at least be more medieval in feel. Sure, no one has to do this, but to fo...

Re: The Language of the Game

Uhuru, and others who seem to find that they have difficulty understanding Olde or Shakespearean English, I have a suggestion for you (which, coincidentally, will improve your RPing abilities in several ways). Read a Shakespearean play. Now, I don't mean skim over it and get the main jist as one wou...

Re: The overall roleplay and pitfalls.

You know. . . I feel that I agree whole-heartedly with Turney: We NEED the application system again. IT won't keep out all new and young players (a good thing), but it will keep out those who lack any sense of rp and story telling. It was around when I came to the game, and honestly, I felt excited ...

Re: Older Players

Why did you start playing, what were you looking for? I was bored as hell with Tibia and Runescape ( I was young, stay off my back), and I didn't know what I was looking for just yet. I sort of knew a bit about DnD back then (had just started) and so looked for something like that. If you quit, why ...

Re: Opinion on certain roleplay

Just to throw in my long absent two cents, if said evil is priorly agreed upon by both parties-preferably by those who are well known to each other- then it's all go. As a disclaimer, I, as well as hopefully most other people here, find rape appalling. However, as Silo mentioned, it can add to a bac...

Re: GAME EVENT - Pirates Life for Me

I'm sad I missed this. If something like this would be hosted again, I'd make an effort to attend.
Maybe a different setting if you want to mix things up. Mountain pass with merchant train (guards) versus bandits, perhaps.
Thanks for doing something like this, mate.
