[edit] Wiki link to english version?
I wanna ask how to make relative wiki links to the english version of a page? Normally, a german user will be redirected to the /de version. -Miklorius 12:58, 19 May 2008 (CEST)
- You can find the complete answer in the help section, Polyglot section. -- Mna Na H'Ereann talk 07:22, 2 June 2008 (CEST)
- Ah, thanks. I guess I read that some time ago, but only memorized the passages about how to insert multilang. Update: Hm, [[Requests_and_reports]] works (and redirects), but [[Requests_and_reports/]] is shown as Requests_and_reports/... -Miklorius 14:04, 2 June 2008 (CEST)
- I don't like that you get even redirected when clicking on [[example#example]], because you end then on [[example/de]]. -Miklorius 23:01, 6 June 2008 (CEST)
- Redirection to /de is for when your language preference is de - German. If you always want to view English pages you need to set English as your language preference. -- Mna Na H'Ereann talk 22:04, 7 June 2008 (CEST)
- So it is impossible to deactivate redirection on "#"-links? And what about the above problem with "/"-links? -Miklorius 22:23, 7 June 2008 (CEST)
- I might be able to change redirection, but what should it look at for preferenece? It will then be the wiki default language which is English. -- Mna Na H'Ereann talk 09:14, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
- Maybe like this, if possible: Main articles get redirected when you have other language preference, but when the link contains a "sub-link" ("#"), then do not redirect? And linking to "[[Requests_and_reports/]]" to prevent redirection at all does not work! -Miklorius 20:43, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
- Hmm, if the redirection is annoying, I'll disable Polyglot in the next update. Do you want me to do that? It is an experimental extension so I don't want to edit it too much myself. -- Mna Na H'Ereann talk 20:57, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
- I guess for "Noobs" :-), Polyglot may be easier, but the most people are probably used to the way Wikipedia works, so we won't lose much without Polyglot for the moment (at least as long the direct linking to english pages does not work). -Miklorius 21:20, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
- Now you mention it, I think Polyglot should be disabled until the German section is ready. I'll add it to the next Wiki Update -- Mna Na H'Ereann talk 21:26, 8 June 2008 (CEST)
- Any news on that? -Miklorius 13:46, 18 August 2008 (CEST)
