Troll's Bane is the biggest settlement and probably only city on Gobaith. It is located in the centre of the main island and therefore the most important place for trade and information. Troll's Bane was the first settlement which was built after Gobaith's colonization.

[edit] 1 General
[edit] 1.1 Location
Troll's Bane is located in the centre of the island Gobaith. The town itself is surounded by high and thick town walls. There are town gates in the north, east and southwest. The territory of Troll's Bane, however, is much larger than the town itself. It reaches from the shores of the Fairy's Tears in the north, in the east to the foot of the Copper Mountains, in the south to the shores of the Troll's Vein, in the west to the shores of the Three Finger Bay (although often the northeastern edge of the Western Woods is seen as the border).
[edit] 1.2 Objectives
Troll's Bane is the largest settlement and perhaps the only town on Gobaith. Thus it is the centre of gathering and trade. It's special status perhaps is the main reason for the manifold struggles for leadership which have taken place. In the near past there was not a single regency which lastet for longer than two dwarven years. Consequently, the objectives of the town always have changed according to the particular leadership of town.
However, there supposably are some issue all leaderships have agreed with: They all wanted Troll's Bane to prosper and grow, they wanted to keep out evil forces and they wanted Troll's Bane to be independent.
[edit] 2 History of Troll's Bane
[edit] 2.1 The Beginning
After Gobaith has been colonized, first buildings were build up in the centre of the island and a small village arose. It was named „Troll's Bane“ after the first dwarven king, Udan Trollbane. The lizard trader Eliza was the first who used the new beginning: Together with newcomers she built the shop as the village's center. Further buildings followed: The mage tower as guard and defense tower (today known as the hospital), a workshop for the population and a wooden provisional pub in the north which does not exist anymore. The Grey Light and the Grey Rose built up the library, the Grey Light later the today's tavern. The merchants of Silverstar built their small shop. A shrine for the gods was built up later on as well as the Seahorse, once a hospice and seat of the portal book seller Nebaar.
The village grew and grew, became a little town, got further streets, lanes and dwellings. History went on, charismatic personalities grew up, someone took their last breath. Lights of public life arose and faded away. Guilds were established, developed and sank in the disregard for the great history. Some names were often to hear, others mentioned now and then. And naturally there was the mass of folks who have never emerged from the sea of oblivion.
[edit] 2.2 Chronicles of Troll's Bane
A quite detailed description of the time from dwarven year 1 to 6 can be found in the library of the Grey Light: Chronicle of Troll's Bane.
For the dwarven years 6 to 7 a chronicle of Troll's Bane's regencies has been published. It is written down here.
[edit] 2.3 Citizenship and laws
It is common to contact members of the current leadership and ask them for citizenship. Information about the way to become citizen normally are listed on the town board of Troll's Bane of the current leadership. The current laws are written down there, too.
[edit] 3 Current government ((2008-08-22 onward))
[edit] 3.1 Laws
No actual law was published yet, so the previous governour's laws is most likely in use.
[edit] 3.2 New guard standards
Full information about the town guard is written down at the most recent The Troll's Bane Guard board.
