Treasure Maps
From Illapedia
A treasure map is a special item, which shows the rough location of a treasure. But there are different terms to fulfill before the treasure can be lifted. Normally treasures are searched in small groups, which can end in a amusing or even dangerous trip.Contents |
[edit] 1 Finding a treasure map
Treasure maps float now and than in rivers and can be fished. Although treasure maps don't appear notably common, some fishermen report to catch three or more treasure maps in a few hours time.
[edit] 2 Treasure hunt
The treasure hunt is more or less easy, depending on where the treasure is buried. Treasures can be found all over Gobaith, sometimes long journeys are necessary. The reading ("examine") of the treasure map shows the rough direction, in which the treasure lays and also a hint of the treasure kind. If one is near the treasure only "nearby" will be displayed, whereas the treasure can be buried anywhere in a specific radius. The higher the characters perception ((?)) the smaller is this final radius.
[edit] 3 Lifting the treasure
When the searching radius is restricted, the digging begins. Thereto one takes a shovel in the hands and uses it to dig on the field in front. Is the mining skill too low it can happen that the treasure cannot be lifted. Also the treasure is sometimes buried in stony ground, in which one is not able to dig. It is reported that even Pick-axes do not work here and that there is no possibility so far to lift that kind of treasure.
As soon as the treasure is lifted by a more or less skilled miner, appear treasure guards, why every treasure is guarded by these guards is not known. The more precious the treasure is the more powerful guards are guarding it. Additionally the treasure itself doesn't appear until all guards are killed. Some also say that this has to happen within a dwarven quarter of an hour.
