[edit] 1 Right use of tools
The right use of static tools and hand tools depends on the process.
- For collecting raw materials, no static tools are needed. Only hand tools are requied to be used with items on the map (trees, rocks etc.), tiles (sand, dirt etc.) or animals (sheep, pigs etc.).
Example: To get wood, the character needs a hatchet in his hands. Stand in front of a tree and right-click on the hatchet and select "Use" (our you hold Shift and left-click the hatchet). Your character then begins to chop at the tree. It takes a while before the tree falls. Go in front of the fallen tree and repeat the action: Use the hatchet again. Now your character begins to collect wood which appears in his belt or bag.
- For improvement of raw resources (wood, Iron Ore, branches) to semi-finished goods (boards, Iron Ingot, handles etc.) it is necessary to right-click at the static tool and to select "Use" (or use Shift again). In general a hand tool needs to be placed in the hand of the character before the process can start.
Example: To saw a board you need a workbench (static tool). Stay in front of the workbench and "use" it. Take care that your character has a saw (hand tool) in his hands.
- For crafting of end products like weapons, armor, drinks etc. the character has to have a hand tool in hands. It must be "used" in front of a static tool. A crafting menu pops up. At first you need to select a type, at second the real item which you want to produce.
Example: You are a carpenter and want to produce a Soup Bowl. Let stay your character in front of a workbench (static tool). He need to have a slicer (hand tool) in his hands. Use the slicer so that a menu pops up with different categories of items (tools, music instruments, shields). Select the category "tools". Now different tools are shown which can be made (depands on the skills of the character). Within all of them a "soup bowl" - click on it and your character tries to produce a soup bowl.
