[edit] 1 The Knights of Gobaith

Formerly known as the Knighthood of Kallahorn, the Knights of Gobaith are a group of knights, squires and pages who give fealty to the isle of Gobaith and its people. Upon the change of the year 21, they shed their old name in order to turn over a new leaf. They seek to help keep the peace upon the isle of Gobaith. Protect the weak, defend the innocent, and help the poor. They also do their best to help enforce the laws of the various towns.

[edit] 1.2 The Aim of the Knighthood

In the Eyes of the Realm:

To assail infidelity, to venerate the priesthood and the righteous, to protect the poor from injuries and to alleviate suffering, to pacify the territory of Gobaith, to pour out their blood for their brothers and, if need be, to lay down their lives.

The Aim of the Knighthood - In the Eyes of the Knight:

Perfection of the soul. To fill one’s own heart with the gifts of generosity, modesty, nobility and courage. All this to follow the path of the good and the righteous to ultimately allow one’s heart to rise and reach the Gods’ divinities.

How is this aim achieved? By following, as best one can. the knighthood's Code of Chilvary and the Principals of Courtly Love (The Principals of Courtly Love acting more as guidelines).

[edit] 1.3 Code of Chivalry

Prowess: Seek excellence in all proficiencies required of a knight, seeking vigor to be used in the light of justice, as opposed to personal overdoing.

Justice: Pursue the path of the virtuous, unfettered and unobstructed by one’s own interest and prejudices. To comprehend that justice dealt by the sword can be a dreadful deed, thus should be lightened by understanding and mercy.

Loyalty: To develop a firm emotional control and cultivate unwavering commitment to the people and morals you choose to live by.

Defense: Always seek to protect the territory of Gobaith, your family and all of those whom you believe are worthy of allegiance.

Courage: The righteous path is rarely the easiest. The one you must choose will be the harder. Be ready to make personal sacrifices to serve the knighthood’s conducts and valued people. To be courageous also means choosing the truthful side in all matters rather than escaping through a convenient lie.

Faith: Strong and unyielding in faith you must be, as faith is what roots you and gives hope against the desolation of one’s failures.

Humility: Cherish the contributions of others first and do not boast of your own accomplishments. Your renown is justly earned through virtuous endeavors.

Largesse: Be generous and charitable in all ways you can afford. This will defy greed and gluttony.

Lawfulness: You shall commit no crime of common law. You are not above the laws and it is your duty to follow them to the best of your ability.

[edit] 1.4 Admittance

People will be accepted as a page apprentice before they are asked to swear the oath of a page. During the time of one dwarven month , the page apprentice will carry out minor tasks in the knighthood and will be watched during this time to decide if they are worth of the rank of page. This will also help us control the amount of pages in the knighthood and not exclude anyone from joining. If in one dwarven month the page apprentice has not been seen around, they will be removed from the list and will be able to reapply or to continue page apprenticeship.

[edit] 1.5 Duties

[edit] 1.5.1 Knights

Uphold the laws of the towns. Protect the innocent and the weak. Give charitably to the poor. Teach the squires the meaning of knighthood, fighting and fighting techniques.

[edit] 1.5.2 Squires

Create a coat of arms for when knighted; teach the pages the knightly values, the gods, and the towns with each of their laws. They also must squire to a knight and help tend to their needs. Teach pages the basics of all close combat forms. If they have caused trouble within a town and become banned it is their duty to find a way to remove themselves from this list. A knight must try to be on good terms with all towns in order to do their job.

[edit] 1.5.3 Pages

Carry out the orders of the knighthood, learn what they must, and continue to do as a knight must. Mistakes can be made, of course. But one should always strive to be as knightly as possible.

[edit] 2 History

[edit] 2.1 Reform from Kallahorn

[edit] 2.2 The First Grandmaster

A few months after being knighted, Jorokar Sladrir decided that the whole Knighthood required a reform. He delved into studies and research, as well as prayer - as he claims - to understand what changes needed to be made, and where should the Knighthood be led to. By the beginning of the year 24, he brought forward his ideas and proposals, also stating that he was spiritually inspired and guided by Zhambra, Malachin and Sirani. The truth of this may have later been questioned.

Jorokar's proposals involved a change of the Knightood's structure, mainly adding the rank of Grandmaster, whom he visioned to be the one to finalize the decisions of the Order. Apart from that, he also elaborated the aims of the Knighthood and made changes to various other areas such as the Code of Chivalry.

On the 9th of Elos, Jorokar Sladrir became the first grandmaster of the Knighthood. While it is true that for a few following months, the Knighthood may have seen some progress, however a decline was soon forseen. Jorokar's ways of leading became stricter and harsher, and it all became evident once he was elected as Governor of Troll's Bane. From that point onwards, Jorokar seemed to abandon his duties as Knight and Grandmaster of the Knighthood. Eventually, Jorokar's presence within the Order became inactive, and the structure proposed by him had failed. The Knighthood was then led by the remaining Knights, including Sir Dantagon Marescot, Sir Mark Strongarm and Dame Ayla To'lorn.
