[edit] 1 Preparing of the resources
[edit] 1.1 Thread
Thread is an important resource of tailoring and carpentry too. To get thread, the entrails of dead animals (pigs, sheep, rabbits etc.) or undead mummies are needed. They are heavy, so cut as soon as you can to lighten your load. With scissors in hand, it can be turned into thread. You have to right-click the scissors, select „Use with“, then right-click the entrails and select „Use“ (or use the Shift key). Both entrails and scissors can be held in a hand, or scissors in hand and entrails on the belt.
Spinning of sibanac leaves with a spinning wheel and scissors would be a second method to get thread. You'll need five sibanic leaves for each spool of thread made.
Making thread itself does not increase skills in anything.
[edit] 1.2 Leather
Leather is a needed resource to be able to tailor shoes, bags, gloves and many more leather wares. To get some leather, it is necessary to kill pigs or cows. The Raw Leather needs to lie in the sun for a while on the ground. Do not stack them on top of each other or you will miss when some have dried. If it is dried, the colour changes to a light grey colour. The leather can then be stacked and is ready for tailoring.
[edit] 1.3 Cloth
The preparation of cloth includes four processes: The shearing of sheep, the spinning of wool, the weaving of cloth and the bleaching of cloth. Once white cloth is made, it can be „dyed“ into colours.
First, a sheep needs to be found. Most exist in or near towns such as Troll's Bane or Greenbriar. Getting these sheep is not easy. They constantly walk around and don't want to stop. So, stay beside a sheep and wait for a good moment to grab it. Use scissors to begin shearing all the wool of the animal. Do this by shift-clicking scissors in you hand, then left-click and release shift on a nearby sheep, and the wool is gathered automatically until you may „cut yourself with scissors“, in which you have to begin again. Shearing sheep does not increase skill in Tailoring.
The next step is the spinning of the wool to make it Balls of Wool. To do this, put the wool in your belt, stand in front of a spinning wheel and 'use' it. Be sure to have a pair of scissors in your hands or it'll remind you. It will automatically spin balls of 'yarn' until you 'cut yourself with scissors'. Making Balls of Wool increase skill in Tailoring.
In the same way, the Balls of Wool can be weaved to make cloth. Put the balls of yarn in your belt, stand in front of a loom and „use“ the loom. Again, you need to hold scissors in your hand. It will automatically turn three balls of „yarn“ into one roll of grey cloth until „the ball of yarn rips“ and you have to begin again. Making Cloth increases skill in Tailoring.
Once you have grey cloth, you may use it for items requiring grey cloth such as a grey coat or robe, or you may Bleach the cloth. To do this, simply leave the grey cloth on the ground in the sun, and after a time period, it will turn white. Pick it up or you will lose it soon. The white cloth is now ready to be dyed into colours. Bleaching cloth does not increase skill.
[edit] 1.4 Dyeing
Most clothes do not consist of only grey or white cloth. Dyeing is necessary.
To do this, a barrel, the bucket of Dye and a Stirring Rod need to be used. Stand in front of a barrel, hold the white cloth and bucket of Dye in your belt, hold the stirring rod in both hands, and „use“ the rod. A selection will appear asking which colour cloth to make, and select the colour cloth that matches the colour Dye you have. The bucket will then empty and one of your white cloth will become coloured.
To make the dyes, a bucket with water, a mortar, a campfire to work on and the ingredients for dyes are needed: Different minerals, vegetables and herbs can be ingredients for dyes. You need to have the bucket of water and all ingredients in your belt, and the mortar in your hand. „Use“ the mortar and the dye will be made. The colour depends both on the ingredients and especially your Tailoring skill.
- Green dyes are the easiest and consist of two cabbages.
- Yellow dyes consist of rotten tree bark.
- Red Dyes can be made two ways: Either use four cherries and two onions, or set out green dye in the sun and it will turn red.
- Black dyes consist of two pieces of coal.
- Blue dyes are usually the hardest to make and consist of a raw bluestone and an anger berry.
- Grey dyes are not needed if you make the grey cloth from scratch.
[edit] 2 Tailoring
The tailoring itself needs a tailoring table which is a static tool. You must be standing in front of the table to use it. Have a needle and scissors in your hands. Then „use“ the needle to make the menu pop up. Select the category first (simple clothes, robes, hats, leater items) and the item which you wish to make second. Different categories, and then items will pop-up depending on your skill.
You must have all materials needed in your belt to make anything. Thread is always needed to make anything. Most items, such as robes will require several colours of cloth.
For items that take more than one step such as leather shoes, robes or armors, the first item to appear is incomplete. If you stop for whatever reason, you can continue to work on that piece (instead of making another) by right-clicking the needle, select „Use with“, then right-click the item and select „use“. You will then continue work on that piece only.
