Here the different ways to use your farming skill is described.

[edit] 1 Planting
In order to begin farming, you'll need seeds. Seeds come in many forms for many plants. Known seeds are:
- Grain
- Hop seeds
- Onion seeds
- Seeds (Carrot seeds)
- Tomatoe seeds
- Withered cabbage
You must have seeds in you belt and be facing farmland, which are dark brown coloured rectangles of ground. Not all seeds will grow in all farmland. It depends on where the farmland is located as to what you will be able to grow. Also, seeds will not plant in the winter months.
To plant the seeds, simply right-click one seed (make sure the counter is set to "001"), select "use with", then right-click a piece of farmland in front of you and select "use" (you can always also hold Shift for the "use"-mode). The seed will plant or be wasted depending on your farming skill. The higher your skill, the less seeds you will lose. One plant per square of farmland, there is no "stacking".
[edit] 2 Harvesting
Once you've planted seeds, it's time to wait for them to grow. Different plants will take different times to grow, and experience will tell you how long for each. Grain is usually the quickest.
[edit] 2.1 Grain
To Hhrvest grain, you have to wait until the fields of grain turn from light green colour to a brown colour. You'll need a scythe and a flail. To harvest, hold the scythe in hand and face the square of grain you wish to harvest. Now use the Scythe with the field of grain, and you will auto-collect Bundles of Grain until the field is depleted. Repeat again with the next square of grain to harvest. The higher your skill in farming, the more bundles you will collect.
Be careful, bundles of grain can be very heavy.
To turn the bundles of grain into grain seed, you'll need to replace the Scythe with the flail. Now use the flail with the bundles of grain and you will automatically flail the grain, separating the wheat from the chaff so to speak.
The next stage of grain requires a millstone which is a static tool. To make Bags of Flour, simply face a millstone, have a flail and a Wooden Shovel in hand, and grain in the belt. Then use the millstone and you will turn the grain into bags of flour. Now the grain has been harvested and ready for Cooking and Baking.
[edit] 2.2 All other plants
To harvest other plants, you must wait for them to mature into their final form. To collect them you will need a sickle in you hand. Simply face the plant and use the sickle with the plant to harvest it. The number of plants obtained will increase with increases in farming skill.
[edit] 2.3 Gathering seeds
The alternative to harvesting plants is to allow them to turn into seeds. Allow the plants to grow, but do not harvest them! After a time, the final form of the plant will decompose into seeds. Pick up the seeds quickly or they may rot and disappear soon. The number collected will increase with skill. Now you have more seeds to replant later.
[edit] 2.4 Gathering Honey
A little known secret in farming is collecting honey. You only need to face a beehive which is a static item, and "use" it. You will begin to collect honey until something stings you...
Be careful, honey is very heavy, but is very useful for cooks, brewers and goldsmiths. Gathering honey will increase the farming skill.
[edit] 3 Planting trees
This is a noble service to the community of players that few will take time to do. People that plant trees are often respected by carpenters, glassblowers, druids, Elves, Faeries etc.
If you cut trees through lumberjacking, please learn to replace them.
The only plantable trees at this time are:
- Apple trees
- Cherry trees
- Conifer trees
To get deciduous fruit tree seeds, simply pick apples or cherries by right-clicking the apple or cherry tree and select "use". To get conifer tree seeds, called Fir Tree Saplings, face a conifer tree, hold a sickle in hand, and use the sickle with the tree.
To plant trees, you will need tree seeds and buckets of water. Simply place one seed on the ground, and use a bucket of water with that seed. The water will splash. That's alright, because it will usually take 3-6 buckets of water to make the seed sprout. Success increases with higher farming skill.
If you recieve a message saying something like "There is not enough sunlight here" it means the spot you picked will not sprout. Just pick another space. The spaces are randomly placed and impossible to tell just looking at it.
